Natasha, one of our 2019 trainees, writes about her experience on the bat licence training course. We would like to congratulate her on all the hard work it took to achieve her licence and hope she can get to use it soon.

Throughout 2019 I attended the BATS LTD Residential Bat Training course to further develop the necessary skills I would need to hopefully be in a position at the end of the course to apply for my Level 2 (Class Licence). The course included intensive residential programmes in addition to practical days of handling and trapping to support the theory elements of the course. The pre-requisites of the course ensured the course content would be targeted at the right level for me and ensured I would get as much benefit from the course.

Despite the long days, I found the course to be very relevant, well planned, interesting and most importantly fun. It covered all the aspects of bat biology, survey methods, handling, identification and legislation that challenged and grew my theoretical and physical capabilities. What I learned stood me in good stead to apply and achieve my Level 2 Survey Licence and I would without a doubt recommend the course to anyone looking to obtain their own bat licence and would personally recommend Jim and Sean as knowledgeable and friendly instructors who work hard to ensure a great standard of training is received by all delegates.
